How Pokémon trading works in My Boy

The emulator supports link cable emulation, which is what the original Game Boy Advance used for trading Pokémon between two devices or games like Pokémon FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald.

📱 What you need to trade

To make it work, you need:

  • Two Android devices (or one device with two emulator sessions, depending on setup)
  • The same Pokémon game version on both sides
  • My Boy (full version or one that supports link features)
  • Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection enabled

🔗 How to trade (basic steps)

  1. Open the same Pokémon game on both devices
  2. Go to a Pokémon Center in the game
  3. Enter the Cable Club / Trade Center
  4. On one device choose Link Server
  5. On the second device choose Link Client
  6. Connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi
  7. Start trading Pokémon normally

⚠️ Important limitations

  • Some free/lite versions may not support full link features
  • Both games must be compatible (same generation works best)
  • Connection stability depends on your device and network

💡 Pro tip

For smoother trading, Wi-Fi is usually more stable than Bluetooth, especially on modern Android devices.
